Orangey lives!

I was caught off guard yesterday when Evelyn came up next to me and asked what was up with her new fish. When I glanced over at the aquarium, it was obvious that “Orangey” had kicked the bucket and was stuck under a plant on his side. Since I wasn’t in the mood to fish him out I blurted out, “Hmm, he must be resting, he’s laying on his side.” Evelyn didn’t really look convinced and I got the feeling she knew he was actually gone, but she told me, “Ok, his name is ‘Lie-downey.’ When he’s done lying down, he’ll be ‘Orangey’ again.”

I was lucky enough to sneak off to work before daddy got home to deliver the official prognosis. I was surprised when I got home after the girls’ bedtime and Jason announced he was going to the pet store to get a new fish. It had a lot more to do with the fact that we’d only had Orangey for 1 day and he was still under warranty than a desire to trick the kids, but regardless, Orangey headed back to the pet store in a little baggy. Imagine Evelyn’s surprise this morning when Lie-downey was Orangey again!

This may be Orangey or Orangey 2, I haven’t sussed out their personalities yet. ;)

Happy Spring Break!

Yesterday we tried to trick the girls with a “Happy Spring Break, pie for dinner” April Fool’s joke. I had Jason videotape it because I thought it would be a quick “yay! Hey, what is that?!” but of course our girls had to be different. Lillian trusts us so much that she willed herself into believing it was a strawberry pie and Evelyn is so smart, she wouldn’t even taste it. So what I thought would be a quick funny video ended up being a study in our girls’ personalities. :)

Knock Knock

Lillian decided to spend the morning getting some alone time in her room with the door closed.

Evelyn needed in and knocked on the door.

Lillian: Who’s there?!

Evelyn: Ev… Little googie!

Lillian: Come in!

And our Christmas card for anyone who missed it!

Language of Lillian

Lillian: Let’s speak my language. You add “illian” to the end of everything. So you’d say ‘How sillian!’

She took the words right out of my mouth!
